Taking strong exception to the deetention of Titus Kamei unnder NSA, the JAC Against thy Wrongful Arrest and Detention of Titus Kamei has called 24 hours total bandh on NH 53 with effect from midnight of July 27 .
A press release issued by the JAC conveyed that Titus Kamei submitted a representation' to the Chief Secretary on May 21 asking for a spot verification of the construction of agriculture road from Khongsang to Dikiuram via Barak bridge and 21 bridges along it at the cost of Rs 23.28 crores under RSVY during the tenure of T.Pamei as DC of Tamennglong district.
Even as the Chief Secretary endorsed the representation to the SP Vigilance for an enquiry, Titus Kamei was arrested from the house of T Pamei on the charge of extortion and subsequently he was detained under NSA, it ecounted.
Urging upon the CM to issue a white paper on the construction of the articular road and bridges, the JAC demanded that the case now pending in the Vigilance be handed over to the CBI.
The JAC further stated that let Titus Kamei suffer his detention in case his complaints are found false but he should be released if his complaints are found to be genuine and the rsponsible official punished.
If the demands are not fulfilled, the JAC will take up follow-up actions, it cautioned while seeking public co-operation.
