Imphal, Jul 23:
Asserting that the State Government has not yet endorsed the cease-fire pact signed between the Central security forces and some UG groups of the State even though Chief Minister O Ibobi has been repeatedly urging all the armed groups to come to the negotiating table, the Kuki Liberation Army has asked the State Govt to make its stand clear on the cease-fire pact.
A statement issued by the central information and publicity secretary of KLO/KLA Malsawm Kuki ridiculed the contradictory approach of the State Government.
It alleged that the State Government has been hard pressing its forces like the commandos, MRs and IRBs against the outfits which have signed cease-fire pacts with Central security forces since 11 months back.
Any possibility of peace in the State has been jeopardised and derailed by such a hostile attitude of the Government, it alleged.
It mentioned that the Union Government has duly instructed the State Government to accept the Suspension of Operation (SoO) truce between these UG groups and the central security forces but the State Government has not given any official response so far.
Referring to the invitation of Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing to all UG groups to come forward for peace talks at Congress Workers' Conference at Ukhrul town, the outfit remarked that the invitation was null and void in view of the SPF Government's hostile stand.
Disclosing that the Suspension of Operation now being enforced has come to nought as the State Govt declines to take up any peace initiative, the outfit flayed the Government for maintaining such a diabolic double standard.
It alleged that the State Government is against any peaceful solution to the current problems.
