The Government of Manipur has appealed to all peace loving citizens of the state to refrain from spreading rumors and to co-operate with the administration in maintaining peace and normalcy in the state.
In an appeal issued by the Secretary of Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur, Mr S Budhachandra said that it was tragic that 13 persons were killed in the unprecedented riot which occurred on June 18 in connection with the extension of ceasefire agreement signed between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM).
The public is aware that the Prime Minister has reiterated the central government's stand that the extension of Naga ceasefire to Manipur would not affect the territorial integrity of the state, Mr Budhachandra said in the appeal.
He further stated that in order to prevent any further breach of peace disturbance to the public tranquility and grave danger to human lives and properties, the district administration has clamped curfew in three valley district.
Moreover additional paramilitary forces have been called out for assisting civil administration in keeping strict vigil of the trouble-torn areas of the state.
