Several NGOs of the State have expressed their dissatisfaction at the irregular power supply and shutting off of power beyond the normal schedule of load shedding.
They have drawn the attention of the Advisors to the Governor to look into the matter.
Power supply at Mayang Imphal was cut off from the midnight of October 17 till 4.30 pm of the next day.
This was not under the schedule of load shedding programme, according to a statement of the Mayang Imphal Bazar Nupi Lup.
When enquired about the reasons of the power cut, a responsible officer of the electricity department posted at Mayang Imphal said that the power cut beyond the normal load shedding programme was ordered by the higher authorities for collecting revenue, it said.
The power cut has brought heavy loss for many residents' and entrepreneurs of Mayang Imphal who earn with the help of power, it said asking if such power cuts are also done in Imphal for the collection of revenues.
Not only this, many incidents power failure occurs frequently due to the negligence of the linemen who do not discharge their duty properly.
Such power failures continue for many days, it stated urging the Advisor to look into the matter.
Such complaints are also received from different parts of the State including many areas of Imphal and Bishnupur.
