The Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi has contradicted media reports about the highhandedness of the officials towards the students who are undergoing relay hunger strike demanding revocation of Centre-NSCN (IM) ceasefire from Manipur.
In a press clarification, it has been clarified that the Manipur Bhavan has not done anything against the legitimate actions of the students.
In fact, Manipur Bhavan has been facilitating meetings between the students and the MLAs and MPs at the Bhavan, the press release stated, adding that on July 7, the students had a three-hour long meeting with the political leaders.
However, on the following day the Union MoS (Home) and Additional Secretary (Home) had come to the Manipur Bhavan to meet the MLAs and MPs.
As the agitating students blocked their way, the Union MoS (Home) and additional secretary (home) had to walk while returning leaving the official vehicles behind.
The MLAs and MPs again meet the students while leaving for the meeting with the Prime Minister on July 8 at 6.30 pm and no to disturb the agitating students who were blocking the way, the delegation took an escape route, the release informed.
Unfortunately, it was reported later that while the delegation including the Resident Commissioner were engaged in the meeting with Prime Minister, some scuffles between the students and the police had taken place, the release said adding that there is not any information about filing police case against the students so far.
�The Manipur Bhavan did not at all requisition police in connection with the students� agitation, etc� the release emphatically stated.
