The Manipuri Students� Federation (MSF) has urged the examination authority of the Manipur University to postpone the MA final and LLB examinations scheduled from July 16 taking the ongoing turmoil in the state as well as the foremost concern of the people including the students in view.
In a release, the MSF expressed surprise at the alleged callousness of the examination authority of the Manipur University to the decisive issue of the state and said the examination schedule is inopportune as the people are in agitated even as many students have left Imphal valley due to apprehension.
The MSF said between territorial integrity of Manipur and infringement of academic calendar, the former should be given more precedence.
The students, most particularly those from the Manipur University and law colleges, are taking significant parts in the ongoing movement and in maintaining communal harmony which is precarious at the moment; it said adding the people can not afford to have the students hold back from the crucial movement for 20 to 30 days.
Stating that the publication of the examination notice just a few days ahead of the examinations is another reason for the students to worry, the MSF appealed to the authority to conduct the examinations smoothly after the present turmoil have subsided.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Colleges Joint Action Committee has also expressed serious opposition to the examination schedule fixed by MU amidst the chaotic condition of the state as a whole.
It has also sent a request to the controller of examinations to postpone the examination.
