The visiting AICC team has condemned the NDA government at the Centre for agreeing to the Bangkok declaration without the knowledge and consent of the concerned states, maintaining that the chief ministers of Assam and the Governor of Manipur were kept in the dark while taking the sensitive decision of the extension of the NSCN (IM) ceasefire.
Addressing a press conference today, the visiting Congress MP�s team, including Mani Shankar Aiyar, BK Handique, PR Kyndiah and R Rabiya said the matter would be raised in the coming monsoon session of Parliament through a calling attention motion.
The session starts from July 23.The AICC team also gave an assurance that the Congress Working Committee will discuss the memorandum submitted by the MPCC (I).
Mani Shankar Aiyar also said the Congress party has taken a strong stand against the extension of ceasefire in Manipur which will only lead to intensified tension in the border state.
The MPs also said they were aware of the sentiments of the people of Manipur and had taken the opinion of the representatives of voluntary organizations and those who were injured during the movement against the ceasefire extension decision.
The delegation also assured that a report will be submitted to the high command in Delhi.
