Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur has decided to prescribe text books and syllabus on the lines of the books prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi so that the students who pass out from the State could compete successfully at the national level.
This was disclosed by Council secretary Dr N Kunjabihari while addressing the 12th annual prize distribution function held at the conference hall of the Council at Babupara here today.
Dr Kunjabihari informed that arrangement would begin from academic session, 2005-06 with science stream followed by arts stream from the academic session 2006-07.Contending that the text books and syllabus prescribed by the Council are in no way inferior to those prescribed by CBSEDr Kunjabihari maintained that many students who have passed examination by studying the text books and syllabus of Council are doing exceedingly well in educational institutions outside the State.
However, he hastened to add that the text books and the syllabus prescribed by CBSE have an added advantage as the students could compete at national level.
The first three top position holders in all the four streams, Science, Arts, commerce an Vocational in the Higher Secondary Examination, 2005 were honoured with cash prizes of Rs 2000, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively.
Besides one citation and a book each were also presented to them.
Students who featured in the top ten position in all the streams were also honoured with citations and books.
