4 victims of trafficking return home

Four natives of Manipur who were victims of illegal human trafficking and detained for about four months in Malaysian jail after they were arrested by the Malaysian army returned today.
The four victims of human trafficking who arrived here today have been identified as Mangkhansuan, Kaisuanlian, Thangminkhai and Thongkholun.
All of them are from Singngat AC of Churachandpur district.
The four persons arrived at Imphal Airport in an Indigo flight from Kolkata at 10.30 am.
Singngat AC MLA Ginsuanhao, leaders of Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM), KSO Ghqs, Zo People for Human Rights and Empowerment and family members accorded a warm welcome to them at the airport.
MLA Ginsuanhao said that he even went to Malaysia to secure the release of the four persons.
They were sent to jail as they did not posses necessary documents.
Three other persons arrested along with them were released earlier.
The MLA said the Supreme Court and Ministry of External Affairs were approached for their release from jail and deportation.
He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, Indian High Commission to Malaysia, Zo People for Human Rights and Empowerment, KSO Ghqs and United NGO Mission, Manipur.
A reception ceremony was organised in honour of the four persons later at Kuki Inn.
Speaking at the reception function, social activist Boipu Koireng said that the victims were taken to Malaysia by some alleged traffickers from Myanmar on the pretext of giving them jobs.
The victims were subjected to various forms of harassment and inhuman treatment by the traffickers, he said.
Later they were sent to jail after Malaysian authority came across them without possessing any travel documents.
The victims were released from jail and deported with the intervention of rights groups and Govt officials, he said.
