Imphal, November 24 2015:
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has stated that Kh Joykishan and Th Bishwajit won Thangmeiband AC and Thongju AC not because of a BJP wave but on their personal charisma.
Briefing media persons after the by-election results were declared today, Gaikhangam maintained that there is no BJP wave in Manipur.
Congratulating both Bishwajit and Joykishan, Gaikhangam exuded confidence that they would work in line with the people's pulse.
Stating that the State Assembly has been functioning like there is no Opposition party, Gaikhangam remarked that the BJP MLAs should discharge the duties of an Opposition party.

Although both the Congress candidates have lost, there is no question of either loss or gain for the Congress party.
The results of the by-election have no impact on Congress party but the next Assembly election likely to be held in 2017 would be a crucial test.
Ups and downs are a natural phenomena in any political career.
A people's representative should be able to cope with winning as well as losing an election, Gaikhangam stated.
Nonetheless, Congress party has learnt a very valuable lesson from the election results declared today, he observed.
To ascertain the loopholes and weaknesses of the Congress party which led to the unexpected defeat, the party would hold a review meeting soon, said Gaikhangam.
In the absence of the masses, democracy has no meaning.
Congress party would always respect people's mandate.
Congress, being a party which is committed to the State's welfare, would not be disheartened by the defeat.
Congress party does not believe in playing 'blame game' .
At the same time, it is unlikely that BJP would not gain any strength from the by-election, Gaikhangam asserted.
He also gave credits to BJP Manipur Pradesh members and their president Th Chaoba for the victory of the two BJP candidates.
