Need to include skill development in the higher education: MU VC

Manipur University Vice Chancellor Professor HNK Sarma on Tuesday stated that the State Government has been mulling to include skill development programmes in higher education.
He was speaking at the one-day seminar on "Excellence in Higher Education: Affiliation & Accreditation" organised by College Development Council (CDC), Manipur University held at Court Hall, MU.
Delivering his speech as the Chief Guest, Sarma lauded that the Government of India for taking initiatives to change the face of higher education system by introducing skill development programmes in higher education so that students could compete in any fields.
Giving the his presidential speech, CDC, MU Director Professor Th Ratankumar said that if a college is not affiliated or given accreditation, it will not get the benefits given under UGC and other funding agencies.
NEHU Vice Chancellor and NAAC Director AN Rani and former CDC, MU Director Dr RK Ranjan attended as Guests of Honour.
A College Statistics souvenir was also released during the function.
