BJP scores thumping victory in by polls

Imphal, November 24 2015:
Scripting a new chapter in the electoral history of Manipur, BJP has bagged both Thangmeiband and Thongju Assembly Constituencies which went to by-election on November 21 .
The BJP candidates defeated their rivals belonging to the ruling Congress party by huge margins.
The by-election was held following disqualification of Kh Joykishan and Th Bishwajit and now they have returned to the Manipur Legislative Assembly victorious.
In Thangmeiband AC, BJP's Kh Joykishan defeated Congress candidate Jyotin Waikhom by a margin of 1907 votes.
While Joykishan secured 12104 votes, Jyotin Waikhom received 10197 votes.

While 72 voters opted for NOTA, G Tonsana of Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) got just 55 votes.
Out of the total 41 polling stations of Thangmeiband AC, Joykishan secured more votes than his rivals in 30 polling stations while Jyotin Waikhom led in 11 polling stations.
It was 9/16 polling station where Joykishan got the highest votes.
There he got 508 votes.
With just 126 votes, the BJP candidate secured the lowest votes at 9/40 polling station.
Jyotin Waikhom won the maximum votes of 488 at 9/3 polling station and minimum votes of 155 at 9/20 polling station.
In Thongju AC, BJP's Thongam Bishwajit was a runaway winner.
He secured 3213 more votes than his Congress rival Bijoy Koijam.
He secured 14,606 votes while Bijoy could garner only 11,393 votes.
G Tonsana (MDPF) could not cross double digit in Thongju AC too.
He got just 54 votes while 78 voters chose NOTA.
Out of the total 45 polling stations of Thongju AC, Bishwajit led in 37 polling stations while Bijoy Koijam secured more votes than his BJP rival in just seven polling stations.
Incidentally, Bishwajit and Bijoy Koijam got 356 votes each in 5/12 polling stations.
Bishwajit received highest votes at 5/36 polling station.
There he got 519 votes.
He won the lowest of 183 votes at 5/6 polling station.
Bijoy Koijam won the maximum vote of 448 at 5/9 polling station and the minimum 136 votes at 5/18 polling station.
After the due counting process, the victorious candidates were given election certificates by the respective ROs.
