Chiefs of Khengjoy, Joupi and Wailou in Chandel district refuted the news report that they were in favour of bringing back KNLF cadres to Semol camp.
Speaking to media persons at Sehao village yesterday, Thongkhothang Haokip, chief of Khengjoy said that the villagers of Khengjoy never demanded that the cadres of KNLF be brought back to Semol camp as published in some section of the local dailies on May 15 .
The report about the villagers of Khengjoy insisting that the KNLF cadres be brought back to their camp was not true as he never spoke to any media person on that day, he clarified.
He further maintained that he had not expressed to anyone for or against shifting or relocating the KNLF cadres.
However, it is unfortunate that some individuals with vested interest dragged the name of the village into the issue without their knowledge, added the village chief.
Khupsei Haokip, chief of Joupi and Thangpao Haokip, chief of Wailou village also told the media persons that they had not demanded that the ousted cadres of KNLF be brought back to Semol camp.
