Airport drug haul case : All accused fail to appear again

All the five accused in the Imphal Airport drug haul case failed to appear before the Special Court Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance, Lamphelpat today.
This is the second time that the five accused have failed to appear before the Court.
The five accused are Okram Henry, Sapam Angus @ Naoba, Md Rajauddin and two non-locals namely Ramveer Tyagi and Rajneesh Kumar from Ghaziabad.
They were represented by their counsels in today's hearing of the case.
The Court filed a dispenser and perused the case diary.
One of the counsels of the accused submitted before the Court that as per the charge sheet submitted by CBI (ACB) Kolkata, one Luwangthem Tarpon of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai who allegedly made a call to the police in connection with the seizure of the huge consignment of drugs was not included as an accused but O Henry was indicted as an accused on the charges that he made a call to the police with regard to the seizure of the drugs.
After hearing the submission of the counsel, the Court summoned Tarpon to appear before the Court on April 11 in connection with the ongoing trial of the case.
It may be mentioned that CBI Kolkata Crime Branch had filed a charge sheet against O Henry and four others on April 18 last bearing charge sheet number 6 of 2016 by DSP CBI Crime Branch Kolkata, BB Chakarvarty for the offence punishable under Section 21, 25 (A) 29, 32 of ND & PS Act under Section 120 (b), 420, 468, 471 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.
On January 11, 2013, a team of Special Intelligence Unit under the supervision of Inspector K Ranjit seized seven unattended carton boxes suspected to be containing contraband drugs at Imphal Tulihal Airport, which were transported from Kolkata to Imphal.
The carton boxes were seized by the team and handed over to Singjamei police station for further investigation.
The SIU team was abolished by an order of a senior police officer of Imphal West district few days after the seizure of the drugs.
The investigation of the case was transferred to CBI by a notification of Government of Manipur on March 6.The case was registered by CBI Special Crime Branch Kolkata for further investigation and on completion of the investigation, charge sheet was submitted before the Court.
