Fuel for Tamenglong

The problem of fuel crisis in Tamenglong district is said to have been reduced to some extent with Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department providing 12 kilolitre of petrol, although the crisis continues to linger in Senapati district as no tanker could be sent on account of the ongoing economic blockade along the National Highway-2 .
Information received from the district administration of Tamenglong said that of the 12 kilolitre of petrol and diesel each allotted by the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department, 12 kilolitres of petrol have been provided when petrol tanker could reach Tamenglong while goods laden trucks were escorted by security from Jiribam last time.
This has reduced the problem of fuel crisis in Tamenglong to some extent.
However, allotted diesel is yet to reach Tamenglong.
On the other hand, Senapati district continues to face acute fuel crisis as no oil tankers could be send on account of economic blockade along the National Highway 39 .
Plan for lifting the required rice of the district from Dimapur has also not been able to implemented even though rice shortage is another problem that Senapati has to grapple with in the wake of prolonged economic blockade.
