Grenade attack accused, other UGs held

Altogether nine cadres of different KCP groups including one accused in the grenade attack at the residence of IFCD EE Ch Ranbir killing one Havildar of 7th MR and injuring several others have been arrested by Imphal West commandos along with arms and ammunition.
The arrested cadres were paraded before media persons together with arms and ammunition seized from them at Commando Complex here this morning.
Speaking to newspersons Imphal West DSP (Commando) Sarangthem Ibomcha said acting on an intelligence input from 116th Bn BSF, Imphal West commandos pulled up KCP (Noyon) cadre Oinam Robindro alias Roshan alias Romen (31) from his Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai house at about 5.30 pm of May 1 .
Robindro was actively involved in the grenade attack at the Chingamakhong residence of IFCD EE Ch Ranbir on February 10 this year which claimed the live of one 7th MR Havildar and caused injuries to two MR personnel and two civilians.
He collected Rs 20 lakhs from IFCD and MI Department and sent the same amount to Noyon recently.
One 9 mm pistol and one magazine containing five live rounds and two detonators of grenades were recovered from his possession, DSP Ibomcha said.
On the same day (May 1), Imphal West commandos apprehended five cadres of KCP (KK Nganba) .

They have been identified as Maibam Chaoba alias Ibotomba (30) of Ukhongshang Maning Leikai, Maibam Manisana alias Tomba (23) of the same locality, Salaibam Rajen (30) of New Checkon, Okram Brojen (34) of Uyumpok and Chongtham Amarjit (23) of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi.
All five of them were working under Pari alias Merajao and Rocky of the KCP (KK Nganba group) who are currently based in Nepal, Ibomcha said.
One 9 mm pistol, one Chinese hand grenade, one lever of high explosive hand grenade and one typewriter were recovered from them.
Another team of Imphal West commandos nabbed three cadres of KCP (Malemnganba) including a woman from Singjamei Thongam Leikai at about 2.30 pm yesterday.
They have been identified as Laimayum Rabichandra alias Tachou alias Tamo alias Thoibi (43) of Singjamei Thongam Leikai, Guruaribam Brajamani alias Inao (33) of the same locality and Sapam (O) Gita alias Abe alias Ibemma (30) of Wabagai.
Malemnganba instructed Rabichandra to team up with Brajamani and attack Airtel towers.
Besides, making extorting notes for the outfit, Brajamani used to append the signature of the outfit's publicity secretary Yaiphaba.
It was Abe who gave Rabichandra contact with Malemnganba.
Two point 32 pistols with two magazines and four lives rounds, 17 extortion notes, eight blank letterheads, three mobile handsets, one round seal and three line seals.
DSP Ibomcha said that further investigation is on.
