The All Community Welfare Forum (ACWF), Moreh which was dissolved recently was re-constituted during a public meeting today at the premises of Moreh police station.
The representatives of all communities of the border town have agreed in-principle to formulate the dos and don'ts of the new forum after a detailed discussion.
Today's meeting was attended by MLAs Bijoy Koijam, K Ranjit and Thangso Baite, Moreh ADC Th Chothe, DIG (Range II) Christopher Doungel, SP Chandel Bimolchandra and representatives of all the communities settled in Moreh.
The meeting was addressed by president of Meitei Council Moreh L Imobi, general secretary of Tamil Sangam Moreh V Shekher, president Meitei Muslim Council Moreh Nahamacha, Prakash Jain of Marwari community, H Mate of Hill Tribal Council etc.
Many leaders of the minority communities observed that they were caught in a situation similar to that of a soccer ball.
They face the wrath of a particular group when they attend events and functions of another group not in good terms with the other.
And when they desist from attending such functions and events, the particular group take this against the minority communities for their absence, they disclosed.
They noted that violence may erupt any time in Moreh and the re-constitution of ACWF would prove to be a futile exercise unless the majority community work with sincerity without any reservation.
MLA K Ranjit said that it was most unfortunate to give communal tinge to all the small incidents that took place in Moreh.
Observing that the maintenance of peace in sensitive areas like Moreh was crucial, Ranjit appealed to all the leaders community leaders to work sincerely with a sacrificial spirit so that peace reigns in Moreh for eternity after the cruel murder of Sunil Agarwal.
Conveying that a development project report for development of Moreh to the international level had been submitted to the Union Government, he took strong exception to the UG groups demanding a major share of the development works under �their so-called project works� even before the scheme has been approved.
While appealing to all concerned not to impede development works, he urged to revive the All Community Welfare Forum in the interest of all the people of Moreh.
Member of the JAC Heikhrujam Diana while exuding profound rejoice over the return of the victimised youths, said that the traitor Somananda should be judged by the people.
Addressing the event, president of MAFYF Sapamcha Kangleipal disclosed that a mass movement would be launched against the illegal weapons now in the hands of Assam Rifles.
