Imphal, Aug 20:
Alleging that for want of such an Act much of the development funds and schemes have been misappropriated by a few elite groups at the cost of the general public, BJP Tamenglong District Committee has welcome the Right to Information Act being implemented in all parts of the country including the hill and valley areas of Manipur.
A statement issued by the Committee informed that the party would field its candidates in the assembly constituencies of Tamei, Tamenglong and Nungba in the forthcoming assembly elections.
It further alleged that the irresponsible and selfish motives of the politicians have been a major contributing factor to the looming threats to the integrity of Manipur.
Reacting to the news report that out of 200 families engaged under NREG scheme in Khoupum valley, only 56 families were paid their due wages, the Committee deplored the alleged partisan attitude and favouritism of the politicians concerned.
While condemning the terror attack at ISKCON complex on August 16, it asserted that the incident was glaring evidence of the total intelligence failure of the both the State and central Governments led by Congress party.
The narrow and communal mind-set of the politicians and leaders need to be rectified sooner rather than later, it asserted.
