The voluntary help, unit, RIMS, is to formally wind up soon.
A valedictory function was held in this connection today at the public waiting shed at the RIMS hospital complex.
The function was attended among others by the RIMS medical superintendent, Dr A Dwijamani, casualty in charge, Dr Samarendra and M Manimacha, social worker, and RIMS help unit volunteers, led by the convenor, M Subhaschandra.
Subhaschandra, speaking during the function, said during the two months beginning June 18, a total of 232 patients were admitted at RIMS in connection with the territorial integrity protection movement, 19 of whom required major operations.
The help unit volunteers also disclosed that the committee received donations totaling Rs 5,22,801 while its expenditure amounted to Rs 4,84,234.The remaining Rs 38,667 would be kept with the unit for future use.
They mentioned that the unit had handed over a total of Rs 1,60,000to the families of the martyrs, donated Rs 20,000 to the JN hospital relief camp and provided Rs 10,000 to a patient to get further treatment in Gawahati.
