The Union Home Minister LK Advani has assured the Union Minister of State for Food Processing and MP of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Mr Thounaojam Chaoha that the territorial integrity of Manipur will not be disturbed at any cost.
The assurance was reportedly given to Mr Th Chaoba by the Home Minister, Mr LK Advani when the former called on the minister at his North Block residence at New Delhi this afternoon, a report received here from New Delhi said today.
During the meeting, Mr Chaoba also apprised Mr Advani of the serious sentiments of the people of Manipur alter the announcement of extension of ceasefire between tile Government of India and the NSCN (IM) to areas of Manipur.
Responding to the appraisal by Mr Chaoba, the Home Minister also reportedly informed that the common minimum programmes of the NDA include the commitment of the government to the people of Manipur, the report said.
Urging the Union Home Minister to withdraw the stand of the NDA government on the extension of ceasefire to parts of Manipur and other NE states, Mr Chaoba related the seriousness of the prevailing situation in the state of Manipur after the recent announcement of extension of ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Mr Chaoba who is also the president of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP-C) requested the convenor of the NDA and former Union Minister of Defence Mr George Fernandes to convene all emergency meeting of the NDA to discuss issue of extension of ceasefire to at other NE states without delay.
