The ground is finally set for the October 13 by-election to 18-Konthoujam Assembly Constituency.
The by-election has been necessitated following the vacancy of the AC after its MLA Dr T Meinya was elected to the Lok Sabha.
Issuing an election notice in this connection today, Sub-Divisional Officer, Patsoi and Returning Officer of 18-Konthoujam A/C L Heramani said nomination papers may be delivered by the candidate or by any of his proposer to him or to the SDC, Konthoujam/Assistant Returning Officer at the office of SDO, Patsoi in the office complex of DC Imphal West district at Lamphelpat.
The nomination papers should be submitted between 11 am and 3 pm on any day, other than public holiday, within September 22.The form of the nomination paper may be obtained from the office of SDO, Patsoi.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held on September 23 at 11 am at the SDO office and notice of the withdrawal of candidature may be delivered to the said office within 3 pm of September 25 either by the candidate himself or by any of his proposers or by his election agent, who has been authorised in writing by the candidate.
Vote will be cast between 7 am to 4 pm on October 13.MSCP to contest by election: Manipur State Congress Party today said that it would be putting up its candidate in the 18-Konthoujam Assembly by-election.
In this connection a meeting of the Party�s Central Executive Committee has been called tomorrow at the Palace Compound temporary office of the party at 10.30 am, party spokesman and general secretary Kh Devbrata Singh informed in a statement this evening.
He further informed that Angom Manihar Singh of Phoijing has submitted an application for the party's ticket.
His application would be considered at tomorrow�s Central Committee meeting and the decision of the party would be declared officially during a press meet later in the afternoon, he said.
