Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh today reviewed the steps being taken up by various Government departments in connection with the Ist Indo-ASEAN Motor Car Rally scheduled to kick off from November 22 to December 6.A meeting was held in his office chamber this morning wherein it was decided to constitute seven sub-committees which include the sub-committee for arrangement at Moreh town under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Election), Government of Manipur.
Besides the main event, the Rally will cover interalia the mini-rallies to be organised in the State, the CMs� conclave at Guwahati, North East Expo-A side show at the Rally event at Guwahati and the seminar on Indo-Myanmar Trade and Economic Co-operation at Mandalay.
The various activities to be taken up by the State Government with regard to the event based on the recommendations of the Core Group and the Sub-Groups among others include organising a car rally.
There would be three types of participants in the car rally.
In the first category, approximately 50 cars with 4 participants each would take part in the International leg from Guwahati upto Singapore.
In the second category, approximately 35 cars with 4 participants each would take part in the race for India leg from Guwahati to Moreh and in the third category, 27 cars with 4 participants each would take part in the Manipur leg of the race.
The State Government is going to nominate upto 5 teams of 4 members each for taking part in the car rally.
The identified teams have to reach Guwahati by November 21 where the Prime Minister will formally flag off the race on November 22.The rally is expected to leave Kohima at 6 am on November 24 and reach Mao gate at around 6.40 am.
Thereafter, it would proceed to Moreh via Imphal.
The State Director of Youth Affairs and Sports has been asked to issue public notices inviting applications for participation on behalf of the State during the meeting today.
Today�s meeting also discussed the importance of prompt completion of the customs/immigrations formalities within 30 minutes for all the International participants and instructed the State Customs Department to co-ordinate with PHQ in this regard.
Meanwhile, the State department of Commerce and Industries has initiated steps to identify/select entrepreneurs/exporters for participation in the seminar on Indo-Myanmar: Trade and Economic Co-operation at Mandalay.
October 7 has also been fixed as the last date of form submission.
