Imphal, January 05 2008:
Though there is still confusion over the alleged 'godown tax demand by the NSCN (IM)', bullet LPG tankers set off for refineries at Assam today under tight security arrangement.
According to a police source, around 10 bullet tankers left for Assam today to bring LPG amidst adequate security escorts.
The bullet tankers comprising around ten vehicles set off from Sekmai Gas Bottling Plant together with a convoy of security escorts.
Unlike in the past, no bullet tanker was allowed to go in advance, informed the source.
A late report informed that the tankers have reached Dimapur safely.
On the other hand, around 300 goods laden trucks which have been stranded at Mao gate for the last few days due to the economic blockade imposed by the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) on NH-39 left Mao for Imphal this afternoon with the same convoy of security which escorted the bullet tankers till Mao.
The NPO has been imposing the blockade demanding transfer of Senapati DC Nidhi Kesharwani from the district.
The trucks which included 50 oil tankers are expected to reach Imphal tonight.
One truck loaded with electrical equipment was torched by suspected blockade supporters near Makhan village along NH 39 on Dec 30 last.
The NPO has been accusing the Senapati DC of misappropriating public fund besides indulging in various irregularities.
the DC has rejected
the charges.
