Imphal, July 03:
The Eramdam Manipur Mothers Association, EMMA and the Naga Womens Union, Manipur, NWUM, have made a joint appeal to the people of all communities to maintain peace and harmony among different communities and to refrain from hurting each other either physically or mentally.
The joint appeal followed a meeting between representatives of the two organisations today concerning the situation arising in the state out of the extension of the ceasefire between the government of India and the NSCN (IM0 without territorial limitations.
The meeting was also attended by leaders of the Naga National Party (NNP).
The two groups, in a joint statement issued after the meeting, appealed to all media organizations to avoid publishing any items that may hurt the sentiments of any groups in whatever way.
The joint statement noted that there have been May intermarriages between different communities, and as such, the various communities have become as a family.
Hence, the communities of both pro-and anti ceasefire groups had to think on human relations rather then the political issues, the statement said.
