The residences of two state MLAs, N Bihari and H Bidur were attacked by unidentified armed men believed to be underground activists in two separate incidents yesterday and today.
There were no causalities in either incident.
According to a report, unidentified gunmen fired several rounds at the gates of the residence of Khurai MLA, N Bihari Singh, located at Kongpal Kongkham Leikai this evening at around 8:15 pm before fleeing under the cover of darkness.
The motive behind the attack is unknown.
It may be mentioned that Bihari is currently under medical treatment in New Delhi after sustaining burn injuries in the Assembly fire during the June 18 incident.
In an earlier incident yesterday, the residence of Keirao MLA and former PHED minister Huidrom Bidur Singh, located at Keirao Makting, under Imphal east district was also attacked by some gunman.
According to a reliable source, two unidentified armed men walked into the house at around 9 pm and exploded a grenade in one of the rooms.
They also fired several gunshots.
Sources said the members of the family were told to vacate the room before the armed men exploded the grenade.
The youths also set fire to the room, resulting in damage and destruction of property worth several of thousands of rupees.
Bidur a senior MLA of the MSCP is also in Delhi along with several other state MLAs who had been urging central leaders to withdraw the Centre-NSCN (IM) ceasefire from the state.
Sources said the militants fired at least fifty rounds of ammunition causing panic among the local public.
While the two militants entered the house, some others kept vigil at the gate.
They left hurriedly after setting ablaze the MLAs room.
Family sources said the unidentified youths did not speak much to the family, and did not disclose the reasons for their actions.
