By the sideline of the medical camps, awareness/education programmes on HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria and leprosy were also conducted.
On June 1, a medical camp was organised at the border of Kashung Bungdung which is located about 98 kms from Imphal and 27 kms from Kasom Khullen.
There, 558 people were given medical treatment and medicines.
The second medical camp was organised at Kasom Khullen yesterday where another 584 villagers were provided the opportunity of medical examination and free medicines.
The medical camps were conducted by doctors of the Medical Dept, para-medical staff of MACS, State TB Cell, State Malaria Office, State Leprosy Society and staff of PHC Kasom Khullen.
The medicines distributed were donated by the Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association.
Speaking about the medical camps, UNIDEP Campaign convenor and AMUCO president R Yangsosong said that AMUCO has been working together with TAKL since earlier.
Taking note of the various woes of the border villages like pathetic transport and communication infrastructure, absence of safe water facility, inadequacy in education infrastructure and absence of heath care facilities, UNIDEP organised the medical camps giving due emphasis to the health of the villagers, he stated.
