Imphal, June 03:
Refuting the charges levelled against him by Mutum Heramani, owner of a Tata truck, Ningombam Gojendro Singh has asserted that the manner in which the Tata truck rammed into his Swift car was an attempt to murder him.
Gojendro is said to be a kin of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
Talking to mediapersons in connection with the June 1 incident at his Thoubal Ningombam Mayai Leikai residence today, Gojendro informed that on that day he was on his way to Imphal in connection with some work, when the Tata truck intentionally rammed into his car near Thoubal Leitanthem Leirak and then sped off.

The body cover of the car suffered substantial damage.
However, as the engine was still working, he chased the speeding truck.
Seeing the car chasing, the driver of the truck signalled to overtake with the intention of ramming the car once again, Gojendro alleged.
He further informed that as he has been receiving threats from underground cadres with frequent incidents of firing and bomb attack at his residence, since January 30 this year the SP of Thoubal Police provided one constable and a rifleman in civvies as his security escort to identify the UG groups responsible.
Gojendro also showed a copy of the order issued by the SP in this regard to the mediapersons.
He went on to say that on the day of the incident, he was travelling along with four other persons including the two security escort in civvies.
After the Tata truck bearing registration no.MN05-2284 rammed into his car, the rifleman and another person were left behind and he along with the constable started chasing the speeding Tata truck.
However, as the Tata truck had already managed to gain entry inside the gate of the house of its owner identified as Mutum Heramani of Waithou Tronglaobi, he went inside looking for the driver.
However, instead of listening to his complaint, Heramani, who was in an inebriated state started challenging him saying that he is in the Assam Rifles and they should not mess up with him, Gojendro said adding that at that time, some of his local brothers who were returning from Imphal also walked in after seeing him.
However, before the arrival of his local brothers, Gojendro said, he and his escort constable in civil dress tried to force opened the door of the house to bring out the driver.
At that some of the family members charged toward them and in an attempt of self defence, he accidentally fired one bullet from his license revolver.
Refuting the statement given to the press by Heramani in connection with the incident, Gojendro said that newspapers report published based on the statement given by Heramani was quite contradictory to what actually happened.
He further informed that in connection with the incident he has registered a case under FIR no.140 (6) 08 u/s 279/427 IPC with the Thoubal Police.
On the other hand, the Tata truck owner Heramani has also reportedly registered a case against Gojendro under FIR no.141(6) 08 u/s 29 of Arms Act.
