Imphal, June 03:
Following monetary demand of Rs 10 lakhs served allegedly by the co-ordinator of the proscribed PREPAK, all the chemist shops located near Thoubal District Hospital have shut down from today.
The proscribed outfit reportedly served the demand note to 22 different chemist shops located around the district hospital asking them to make the payment within May 31 .
While the chemists were in a dilemma as they are not in a position to meet the monetary demand, they received fresh threats through telephone asking them to shut down their drugstores if they are not complying to the demand.
In protest against such threats and monetary demand, the owners and the staff of the chemist shops have launched an indefinite Wakat Meepham from today at the bus waiting shed located in front of the district hospital.
