Churachandpur, August 01 2021:
Churachandpur reported 30 deaths and 2775 cases in July as it became the deadliest month, both in terms of the absolute number of cases and fatalities.
The situation looks grim with no indication that the infection is declining.
A month-wise positive data analyzed by the district surveillance unit since April 2020 showed a steep climb in the trajectory of COVID-19 cases since May end.
The case fatality ratio too continues on an uphill trajectory since May.
In May the district reported 26 deaths.
The fatality rate further climbed to 33 in June, while it was 40 in July.
And sadly, there is not a hint to suggest that the upward trend in new cases and fatalities has flattened a bit.
The positivity rates that had plunged to 13 percent in June from the previous 21 percent recorded in May has yet again soared to 17 percent in July.
The data released by the IDSP today also revealed that those below 18 years have also been consistently infected by the virus.
A break-up of the infections by their age group released by the district data team in RAT tests shows that about 5 percent of the infection are between 1-5 years of age; 19.5 percent are 6-17 years; 47.5 percent are 18-44; 18 percent are 45-60 and the remaining 10 percent are from people above 60 years.
In fact, the district yesterday recorded the first death below 18 years as a 17-year-old girl with cases of comorbid succumbed to the infection.
Today Churachandpur reported 51 fresh Covid-19 cases and 1 death in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, a total of 126 recoveries were reported during the same period.
