Soon after his arrival, the MP addressed a public meeting of the Trinamool Congress in connection with the by-election at Sagoltongba Lansonbi Bazar.
Leaders of State unit BJP and MPP, which have extended support to the candidate of Trinamool Congress in the by-election, were also present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting attended by a large number of party workers and sympathisers of the three political parties, MP KD asserted that a beautiful and environmentally clean State like Manipur has become a den of corruption today.
To put an end to this rising corruption, public of Konthoujam should show an exemplary role in the ensuing by-election, he said, adding that Trinamool Congress fielded its candidate to contest the by-election to end corruption and ensure a taste for good governance among the people for all round development.
He explained that although Trinamool Congress is a partner of the UPA Government at the Centre, there is difference in party policies at the Centre and the State.
So, Trinamool Congress has contested in the by-election to defeat the Congress party.
Ex-MP and president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress president Kim Gangte said that the main objective of her party is to being about political change in Manipur.
Towards realisation this objective, it is an opportunity for the public of Konthoujam to show an example to the rest in the by-election.
BJP and MPP have also extended their support to Trinamool Congress from this point of view, she said.
Cautioning that Congress Minister or MLA may be deployed in each of the 28 polling stations of Konthoujam AC in the by-poll, Kim Gangte exhorted that the public should be prepared to fight if any activity which is against the interest of the people is resorted.
People of Konthoujam should not forget that the entire Manipur is closely watching the by-poll, she added.
Vice president of State BJP unit Prof S Tiken questioned whether there is any person who has been able to lead a peaceful life in the nine years of rule by the Congress led SPF Government in Manipur.
Daily incident of killings and deprivation of PDS items have reduced Manipur to a land of desertation.
Public should not forget that economic blockade along the National Highway for 52 days, brutal custodial killing of Thangjam Manorama, 23/7 Khwairamband Bazar killing, etc have all happened during the rule of the Congress led Government, Tiken said.
Candidate of Trinamool Congress in the by-election K Sarat pledged to sacrifice everything for the welfare of the poor people and ensure development of roads and other communication facilities in the Constituency if he is elected in the by-poll.
