Imphal, February 01, 2011:
Discontent with the portfolio allocated to him, Minister DD Thaisii is understood to have approached MPCC president, Gaikha-ngam to tender resignation as a minister.
Sources said that Thaisii is dissatisfied being minister of Education and Science & Technology and his being relieved of his portfolios of Tribal Development and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry.
DD Thaisii submitted his resignation paper to the MPCC chief, Gaikhangam on January 30 at the Congress Bhavan, sources said.
It is learnt that Gaikhangam has informed Thaisii that the matter will be brought to the notice of Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh when he comes back from Delhi.
Meanwhile, after having submitted his resignation paper, DD Thaisii has not attended office till today.
With his mobile phone off, he is not meeting anyone.
Sources believe that Thaisii's submission of his resignation to the MPCC president instead of doing so directly to the Chief Minister is to draw the attention of the president to the matter.
The source close to the minister disclosed that Thaisii wants to retain the Tribal Development Department.
He feels he has done nothing wrong that would hurt the image of the SPF government as minister in-charge of Tribal Development Department, the source added.
The source also informed that Thaisii lacks experience to handle such a scam riddled department as the Education Department.
Besides this, his close workers are unhappy that a negative image of the minister may have been built that he had been relieved of the Tribal Development because he could not look after the welfare of the tribal people.
His workers also think that Thaisii has been victimized by the Chief Minister by allocating the scam riddled Education Department, and the Science and Technology Department which does not need a cabinet minister.
The resignation comes at a time when the UNC is pressing Naga MLAs to resign by January 31 (a deadline expired on Monday).
DD Thaisii is the only Naga MLA in the SPF ministry.
