Assam Rifles organises webinar on 'World No Tobacco Day'

The Covid-19 pandemic has been affecting lungs of the patients directly.
It has led to millions of tobacco users say that they want to quit.
There are numerous health benefits of smoking cessation.
Beneficial health changes related to heart rate ahd blood pressure along with clean lungs is attracting people from all age groups to opt for quitting.
The smoking also affects the children who are exposed to second hand smoke.
Quitting smoking decreases the excess risk of many respiratory diseases related to second hand smoke in children.
At a time when virus is damaging our lungs there are many ways to quit smoking or use of tobacco products.
In 1987, WHO recognised 31 May as world No Tobacco Day to draw attention of people to the dangers of using tobacco.
To spread awareness against tobacco use during the ongoing pandemic 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sect AR/IGAR(E) organised a webinar with students of Tamenglong.
The theme of the webinar was Quit Smoking.
Natural ways to quit smoking for a healthier lifestyle were discussed.
The Unit medical staff, speaking on the occasion highlighted a few suggestions needed to achieve smoking cessation.
First and foremost is make up our mind to quit and fix a date.
He said that setting a day for being completely free of the habit will help one gradually decrease smoking and reach the final goal.
This way it would help the body adjust to the new normal.
To further subdue your urge to smoke have some healthy snack or nicotine gums or even sugarless chewing gums.
One should have a support system around him instead of struggling on your own.
Constant reminders from them can motivate a person to upbeat the urge.
This urge develops when under stress so, try some calming techniques such as relaxing music, breathing exercises, massage, meditation or even closing your eyes.
Keep focus on rewards of quitting and you would succeed.
Keep yourself busy.
Replace any free time of the day with something productive and constructive or take up some hobby.
The Commandant Tamenglong battalion on this occasion released an e-brochure on "No Tobacco Day" Sharing this brochure with the participants he urged all to spread awareness about Tobacco cessation and its benefits during ongoing COVID pandemic.
He requested all to follow COVID appropriate behaviour and spread its awareness around the society.
Applauding the contribution of various CSOs and youth leaders in their efforts towards ongoing 3rd phase of vaccination drive and he also requested publio to follow protocols at COVID care centres and get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
The unit shall be sharing the e brochure through whatsapp group in the district so that maximum people, especially youth can be benefited from it.
On this occasion to further spread the Covid awareness among people from far flung, remote villages of Tousem sub division the unit vehicle based teams spreads the message in Azuiram, Thiullon, Phillong and Namtiram villages before hitting back to the town.
The collective efforts shall definitely bring a new ray of hope in the society.
