KIM, Hmar Inpui mourn for Hmangkhum Joute

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and Hmar Inpui General Headquarters grieved the untimely demise of Hmangkhum Joute (82), who died on May 30.S Gouminlun Gangte, secretary information & publicity KIM, said that Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of the Kuki tribes, was saddened to hear the demise of Hmangkhum, first president of Hmar Inpui, an apex body of Hmar Tribe, who passed away at Lamka Churachandpur residence after a prolonged illness.
He said that during his tenure as president, Hmangkhum made immense contribution to peace and unity among the different Kuki tribes especially during the 1997-98 conflict in Churachandpur.
Kuki Inpi Manipur mourned the demise of Hmangkhum, who was a great and steadfast leader.
His death is an irreparable loss and has created a vacuum in the Kuki community which is hard to fill, KIM said.
Meanwhile, Hmar Inpui General Headquarters also shared the sorrow of the bereaved family of Hmangkhum Joute while praying for God's comfort and peace.
Joseph R Hmar, president Hmar Inpui GHQ, said that the deceased being a steadfast leader of the Hmar community contributed immensely towards the betterment of the Hmar people.
Remembering his undaunted efforts during his tenure as the president, the Hmar Inpui has to bid him adieu with highest regards, he said.
Apart from his responsibilities in the Hmar Inpui, his selfless efforts during communal flare-up in Churachandpur and in Assam will never be forgotten.
The deceased's contribution towards the running of Hmar National Union, a Hmar-centric Political Party, is also well accounted, Joseph added.
