Imphal, May 29 2021:
The State Government has revised the discharge policy for COVID-19 and guidelines for home isolation of mild/asymptomatic Covid cases.
In an office memorandum, Health Director Dr K Rajo said that asymptomatic patients under home isolation shall stand discharged and end isolation after 10 days from the date of sampling and there will be no need for testing prior to discharge.
Asymptomatic cases, according to the Health Director, are laboratory-confirmed cases not experiencing any symptom and having oxygen saturation at room air of more than 96 percent.
Mild and very mild cases
The patient can be discharged after 10 days of symptom onset and absence of fever without antipyretics (medicines) for the last three days.
There will be no need for testing prior to discharge for mild and very mild cases, however, the patient, at the time of discharge, will be advised to isolate at home and self monitor their health for 7 days.
If he/she develops symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty after discharge from the facility, they should contact Covid Care Centre or State Covid Helpline/Control Room (1800-345-3818) or respective District Covid Helpline Numbers.
Mild/very mild cases admitted to a Covid Care Facility will undergo regular temperature and pulse oximetry monitoring.
Moderate cases whose symptoms resolve within three days and maintain oxygen saturation > for the next 4 daysbr>
Such patients will be discharged without antipyretics in case of absence of fever with antipyretics, resolution of breathlessness and no oxygen requirement.
There will be no need for testing prior to discharge and the patient will be advised to isolate himself at home and self monitor their health for 7 days at the time of discharge.
Moderate cases on oxygenation whose fever doesn't resolve within 3 days and demand of oxygen therapy continuebr>
Such patients will be discharged only after the resolution of clinical symptoms and ability to maintain oxygen saturation for 3 consecutive days.
There will be no need for testing prior to discharge, however, the patient will be advised to isolate himself at home and self monitor their health for further 7 days.
Dr K Rajo, on the other hand, said that discharge criteria for severe cases including immunocompromised (HIV patients, transplant recipients, malignancy) will be based on clinical recovery and patient test negative once by RT -PCR (after resolution of symptoms) .
