Senapati tense after 1 doctor tests positive for COVID-19

Senapati, July 25 2020:
After one doctor posted at Senapati District Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, the denizens of the district have been caught in a tense situation.
The doctor from Thoubal district tested positive for COVID-19 after rapid antigen test yesterday.
Sources in the Health Department had said that the doctor may have contracted the virus when attending patients at home.
Following the detection of the case, the district's Chief Medical Officer had informed and directed all those who had close contact with the doctor to report and undergo COVID test at mini stadium complex, Senapati.
Swab samples of as many as 120 persons including doctors, nurses, other staff of the district hospital and 14 members of a sample collection team have been collected.
The results are however expected to arrive by tomorrow, said a source.
Meanwhile, the district hospital has shut all normal functions until further order.
It may be noted that the Deputy Commissioner had also issued a prohibitory order under Section 144 to ensure that the State-wide 7 days lockdown till July 30 is enforced strictly.
