Imphal, July 21 2021:
Saying that 44 Covid positive cases were detected at Pourabi in just three days, COVID-19 Joint Task Force Pourabi has urged the authorities concerned to declare the locality (Pourabi) as a red zone.
A press release issued by COVID-19 Joint Task Force Pourabi said that 34 of the total cases (91 percent) are not vaccinated against COVID-19, which is a clear indication of vaccinated people less prone to the disease.
Continuing that majority of people in Pourabi are farmers, the task force appealed to the State Government to declare Pourabi village as a red zone, deploy police at the locality round the clock and sanitize the village completely.
Over 100 houses in the locality have been declared as a containment zone, it said and further urged the authority concerned to conduct a mass testing programme at Pourabi and distribute essential commodities to the people at the earliest.
No one from the locality should be allowed to undergo home isolation without consulting the task force first, the task force maintained.
The task force also urged the State Government and authority concerned to distribute seeds seasonal vegetables and urea fertilizers to farmers of the locality through them.
After the vaccination and testing programme, organise one medical check up at the village, it added.
