Eight more candidates for the by-election to Lilong AC, Wangoi AC, Wangjing-Tentha AC, Saitu AC and Singnat AC filed nomination papers to their respective ROs today.
Notably, today is the last day of filing nomination papers for the by-election scheduled on November 7 .
Five candidates filed their nomination papers in Lilong AC today.
While Opposition Congress party is fielding Azziul Haque Khan in Lilong AC , BJP opted to support Independent candidate Abdul Nasir without putting up any candidate of their own.
Three other Independent candidates of Lilong AC namely; Y Antas Khan, Wangmayum Reshma and Md Abdul Jabbar filed nomination papers today.
P Brojen, BJP candidate in Wangjing-Tentha AC filed his nomination papers today.
So far, three candidates have filed their nomination papers in Wangjing-Tentha AC.
They are M Hemanta (Congress), Paonam Brojen (BJP) and Independent candidate Sarangthem Manaobi.
In Wangoi AC, independent candidate M Totomsana alias Nongshaba filed nomination papers today.
Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi (BJP), Salam Joy (Congress) and Kh Loken (NPP) have already filed their candidates in Wangoi AC.
BJP's Ginsuanhau re-submitted his nomination papers to the RO concerned today in Singnat AC.
Independent candidate Chinlunthang had already filed his nomination in the same Assembly Constituency.
Ngamthang Haokip (BJP) and Lamtinthang Haokip (Congress) have already filed their nomination papers in Saitu AC.
Scrutiny of all the nomination papers would be done tomorrow while October 23 has been already fixed as the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
Altogether 1,57,658 (77,046 males, 80,608 females) are expected to exercise their right to adult franchise in the by-election at 254 polling stations spread across the five Assembly segments.
