Appoint regular VC, not in-charge : MUSU

Stating that appointment of a Pro Vice Chancellor or senior most Professor as VC in-charge will bring more academic "instability", the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has written to the Registrar General, High Court of Manipur asking it to appoint a regular Vice Chancellor.
In the letter, MUSU's president Moirangthem Bobby Singh stated that the union is of the knowledge that the Ministry of Human Resource Development has filed a case in the High Court of Manipur regarding the appointment of a Pro-Vice Chancellor/senior most Professor of the Manipur University assuming the office of the Vice Chancellor by involving the provision of Statute 2(6) under Manipur University Act 2005.MUSU stated that the provisions of Statue 2(6) of the Statues of the University under Manipur University Act 2005 are in place currently since the appointment of the Administrator by the High Court of Manipur back in 2018 .
MUSU noted that, in the best interest of the whole community of the varsity, a permanent settlement be brought by appointing a regular Vice Chancellor.

Since the appointment of the Administrator by the High Court of Manipur, MUSU has observed a wave of positive development and academic progress in the University, said the letter claiming that the appointment of a Pro-VC or senior most Professor as VC in-charge will disturb the tranquillity in the varsity when it is going through a critical phase coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic and entrance examinations of various Departments.
