Houses of accused set afire

An angry mob today burned down the houses of two persons, who were allegedly involved in the murder of Serakhatun of Hiyangthang Pallak.
Md Achao (45) s/o Chingatomba of Hiyangthang Pallak Nambul Mapal and his step brother Md Ithem (38) of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi are the relatives of the alleged main culprit in the case, Phusam Md Abdul Kadir alias Amuthi of Hiyangthang Pallak.
Regarding the murder case, JAC constituted in connection with the incident held a public meeting at Hiyangthang Pallak on October 4 and passed a resolution to ask Md Achao and Md Ithem, who have been absconding after Serakhatun's dead, to surrender before the JAC within 48 hours if they are innocent and not involved in the case.

Speaking to reporters, JAC convenor said that they have come to know that the alleged main culprit Amuthi's father Ibosana and some of his relatives were invloved in the crime.
After they brutally assaulted Serakhatun to death, her body was taken near KP College before it was thrown into Nambol river, he added.
It may be mentioned that Serakhatun's body was recovered from a bush on Nambul river bank at Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai, near the foot of an incomplete abandoned bridge in the early morning of September 21, after two days she went missing.
Serakhatun was a vegetable vendor at Hiyangthang market and she was seen leaving the market with Amuthi at around 7.30 pm on September 19 .
Amuthi's house had already been vandalised and burned down by an angry mob on the day Serakhatun's body was recovered.
The mob also blockaded Mayai Lambi road and submitted a memorandum demanding early arrest and befitting punishment against those who were invloved in the murder.
