Two non-locals shot

Imphal, June 07 2016:
Two non-local masons were shot at by an unknown miscreant at Thang-meiband under Imphal police station at around 7.20 pm today.
Both the injured non-locals are undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital.
Local sources said that they heard two gunshots and found the two non-locals lying injured with bullet injuries near a culvert located between Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and Thangmeiband Polem Leikai.
Soon after the incident, a team of Imphal West district police led by Additional SP (Operations) Th Vikramjit and commando OC P Sanjoy came there and inspected the area.
Police found two empty cases from the spot � one from the middle of the road and another from a CGI sheet kept above a drain.
The two injured persons have been identified as Ramu Patel (35) s/o Swagi Madan Patel and Surendra Patel (35) s/o Drup Singh Patel both from Paschim district of Uttar Pradesh, presently staying at Lourung Purel Leikai in a rented house owned by one Ibochouba.
Surendra Patel said that they are masons and they have been staying in Manipur since the past one year.
They came out from their rented room to buy rice from a nearby grocery shop.
When they reached the incident site, all of a sudden one unknown person came near them and without saying a word, he shot at them and fled the area.
Surendra Patel was hit on his left abdomen while Ramu Patel received a bullet injury on his right chest.
Imphal police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
