Pro-ILPS protesters block NH-37

Imphal, June 07 2016:
As announ-ced earlier by JCILPS, people staged pro-ILPS demons-trations along NH-37 (Imphal- Jiribam road) from Waheng-bam Leikai to Keithelmanbi today.
Although, JCILPS requested the public to com- mence the stir from 2 pm, people began blocking the road at different localities from 11 am creating inconvenience to the public.
The protesters placed electric poles, tree branches, bullock cart wheels and other objects on the road apart from burning tyres.
Jiri parking wore a deserted look after 2 pm as no vehicle came to the area after the stir began.

Members of Wahengbam Leikai Yumjao Lairembi Apunba Nupi Marup and local clubs blocked the road at Jiri parking from 1 pm.
The ILPS supporters sat on the middle of the road at Wahengbam Leikai and Sagolband junction.
Similar protests were also seen at Sagolband Salam Leikai, Meino Leirak, Moi-rang Leirak, Sagolband Bijoygovinda Thangapat Mapal, Thangjam Leirak, Amudon, Tera bazar, Lukram Leirak, Khamnam bazar, Langjing Achouba, Patsoi bazar, Patsoi Part-4, Khumbong and Sagoltongba bazar etc.
At some areas, the protesters gathered cattle and hung phaneks (women's loin cloth) on the road to prevent movement of vehicles.
Women protestors tried to stop an Assam Rifles convoy at Patsoi bazar.
However, a team of Patsoi police station cleared the road and gave free passage to the convoy.
Later people formed human chains and shouted slogans like, 'implement ILPS in Manipur', 'convert the three Bills into Acts', 'Government can't suppress the ILPS issue by announcing Kh Ratan as a wanted man and arresting the students' and 'we condemn wanted tag on Kh Ratan' .
No violent incident was reported during the protest.
Students of Inspire Science Academy formed human chain at Kwakeithel bazar.
