Govt says ADC polls by June 25; ATSUM refutes

Imphal, April 05 2021:
Subsequent upon a meeting with ATSUM and the Demand Committee for Creation of ADCs, the State Government has decided to hold the ADC election on or before June 25.However ATSUM has refuted the report adding that no such agreement was reached.
According to a press release issued by Additional Chief Secretary (TA&H) Letkhogin Haokip, the State Government was represented by PHE Minister Loshi Dikho, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Vungzagin Valte, HAC Chairman K Leishiyo and officials of TA&H Department at the meeting held today with representatives of ATSUM and the Demand Committee for Creation of ADC.
However, a press release issued by ATSUM maintained that the decision to conduct the ADC election on or before June 25 was a 'Government-sided' decision.
ATSUM maintained that no such agreement was arrived at the meeting held today between the students' body and the State Government.
As the meeting could not find any concrete solution, the ongoing agitation of ATSUM on the demand for issuance of notification for general election to the ADCs would continue as announced, according to the press release issued by ATSUM information and publicity secretary Khaiminlen Doungel.
