Around 230 Civil Police (Female) posts vacant: CM

There around 230 vacant posts of Civil Police (Female) and the State Government has a plan to fill them up, stated Chief Minister N Biren on the floor of the Manipur Legislative Assembly during question hour today.
Opposition Member AK Mirabai asked the total numbers of male and female police personnel of the State and whether male and female police personnel have similar lines of promotion.
Responding to the query, Chief Minister N Biren who is also in charge of Home Department stated that there are 26,321 males and 2050 females in active services and there are similar lines of promotion for them.
Stressing on the need to strengthen women police force in the face of the surging rate of crimes against women, Mirabai asked whether there is a possibility of assigning an IG or DIG as in-charge of women police force.
Responding to the MLA, the Chief Minister contended that crimes against women have declined in the State on account of several measures taken up by the State Government.
Establishment of fast track Courts has resulted in prompt punishment of culprits in several cases, Biren said.
There are separate quotas for male police personnel and female police personnel and there is no question of trespassing into each other's quota, Biren stated.
He further informed the House that there are 23 female officers in Civil Police and 16 females officers of MPS rank in the Armed Police.
There are eight women police Inspectors and six other posts are lying vacant.
A woman exclusive IRB (9th) has been established and they are being used in maintaining law and order specially when there is women-related law and order problems, Biren said.
Replying to a query raised by O Henry, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam said according to the department's data base, 24,24,714 people applied for subsidised rice under NFSA and 21,84,900 applicants have been issued cards and they are being given subsidised rice.
All applicants who submitted all requisite documents are being given subsidised rice.
The total number of applicants in Wangkhei AC is 10,353.Out of them, 7121 have been issued NFSA cards.
If all the applicants had submitted all the requisite documents, all of them would have been given NFSA cards, Shyam said.
