Imphal, January 28:
Seven officers of the Directorate of Education (U) have submitted a letter to the Principal Secretary (Hr Education) urging him to repatriate them to their parent Colleges immediately.
They pointed Out that the government has failed to fulfill the demands of the JAC of Govt College Teachers' Association as well as of the Officers of the Directorate of Education (U) to revoke the allegedly malafide appointment of Dr M Kiranchand Singh as the Director of Education (U) who is not only an ex-cadre but a very junior one who is not eligible to be appointed as the Director according to the letter.
A meeting of the officers of the Directorate was held on January 23 at the premises of DE(U) with Kh Netrajit Singh in the chair.
It welcomed the resolutions adopted by the Joint Action Committee of Govt College Teachers' Associations and Principals of 25 government colleges with the demand of the JAC to revoke the appointment of Dr M Kiranchand as the Director of Education (S).
The Officers of the Directorate have been protesting against the appointment since 26 November 2002 by rescuing to two day mass casual leave and work to rule with black badges till date.
After a threadbare discussion it was resolved that that the government be urged to repatriate all the seven officers to their respective parent colleges with immediate effect until the revocation of the appointment of the Director.
