As part of the Festival of Manipur, 2003, a three day long retrospective festival of renowned Manipuri filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma's films was inaugurated at Nandan, Kolkata yesterday.
The film festival is being jointly organized by Manipur Film Development Corporation, Rupo Kala Kendra, Kolkata and West Bengal Film Development Corporation.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function, noted film critic Samik Bandhopadyay hailed Aribam Syam Sharma as the best dance documentary film makers.
He said that among all the films he had seen on dances, he found the documentaries of Syam Sharma's the best.
On the inaugural day yesterday, Imagee Ninghtem, Grand de Prix winner at Nantes Film festival was shown much to the delight of the Kolkatans.
Today documentary 'Yelhou Jagoi' and National award winning film 'Ishanou' were screened.
On the concluding day tomorrow 'Orchids of Manipur' and 'Sanabi' would be shown.
