Imphal, December 18:
Chief Minister O Ibobi, who is also the president of the MPCC (I) along with Works Minister and MPCC (I) vice president, Gaikhangam today left for New Delhi following a meeting convened by AICC president Sonia Gandhi to discuss the political situation in the country in the post Gujarat Assembly election, where the Congress was routed and the BJP came back to power securing absolute majority.
Sources from the Congress Bhawan here said that the Chief Minister is expected to hold talks with AICC leaders and will take part in discussions on what steps the Congress should take before the next Parliamentary election.
Meanwhile another source informed The Sangai Express that Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing is lobbying hard to get Ibobi removed as president of the MPCC (I) according to the Congress' principle of one man one post.
Ibobi has been exerting due pressure on the AICC leadership not to effect any change in the MPCC presidentship taking into account the prevailing political situation here.
