Imphal, November 16 2009:
Most Govt offices including the Raj Bhavan still do not have the patta of the land on which they stand even as private individuals have encroached upon the land of many Government offices in different parts of the State.
In the follow up action of the State Cabinet's decision to issue clear cut pattas of the land to the respective Government offices and evict the encroachers, it has come to light that many Government offices including the Raj Bhavan do not have the patta of their respective land.
As for the Raj Bhavan, the Governor's Secretariat has already written to the Department concerned to get the required patta.
Though it is yet to own the patta as of now.
Starting from head offices of the various State Government Departments to the district level offices, generally there has been no proper patta of the land on which these offices are located.
Accordingly, it was decided that all the Govt offices should possess the patta of their respective land and the Deputy Commissioners have been given the instructions to identity and doing the needful.
It is said that encroachment on the land of Government offices is more rampant in district level offices, where private houses have been constructed with some of the house owners even having managed to secure the patta of the land, they have encroached upon.
