Lamka, October 15:
Vice President of State BSP unit T Hangkhanpau today launched a scathing assault on the State Government's alleged apathy in addressing various developmental aspects of the district and called on the people to give a serious thought in their choice of representatives.
Addressing a press conference here, the former Cabinet Minister said that despite the tall claims of Congress Government in Manipur, the interior parts of Singngat Assembly Constituency have not seen even a single developmental work worth mentioning.
"No new Governmental building, be it for health care, community centre or education has been taken up during the past four years", he said.
He even accused the Singngat MLA of siphoning off all social welfare related supplies at his personal residence in Hmar Veng, depriving and deserting his own people.
Detailing the Government's failure for the past four years, Hangkhanpau who is also the president of UZO claimed that all PHC and Primary Schools in his designated constituency were non-functional.
All attempts made by the villagers to revive the system were annulled by political interference leaving the officer concerned with no option but to submit, he said and further alleged that Singngat Govt.High School which has 27 staff before 2002 now has a meagre staff of 4 and its school buildings were occupied by the security forces and there had been no initiative to relocate them.
He went on to add that the much hyped Guite Road and its adjoining links still remain unattended, despite numerous assurances and MoUs.
The former Chandel MLA also pointed out that their elected representative, who had even held the PHED portfolio for over a couple of years had not arranged even a single hand-pump for the hilltop villages which have been reeling under water scarcity throughout the year.
He also claimed that the District Hopital here was much better before the present Congress Government took charge of the State administration as even major surgery were carried out almost on daily basis in those days as against the inability to perform even a minor surgery today.
He also flayed the Government in handling the issues of AFSPA, part-time lecturers, and various woes of the student bodies of the district, saying the Government budged only when considerable collateral damages were done.
