Major wholesale traders in the state today resolved to extend all out cooperation to the general consumers in Manipur during this hour of crisis and uncertainty, by taking various measures to streamline the inflow of essential commodities and price control in Khwairamband Bazar.
Traders dealing in essential commodities today announced their assurance that there is no breach in supply of essential commodities to the people and asked the government to arrange adequate security on then National Highway-39 from Imphal to Gauhati for smooth flow of essential commodities into the state.
A memorandum has been submitted to the state administration in this regard.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the traders held at Marwari Dharmashala this morning.
Thirty major wholesale dealers attended the meeting.
Concerned police officials also attended the meeting convened by the Imphal Bazar Committee.
During the meeting, the Convener, Amrik Singh Pahwa urged the traders to take full advantage of the central government�s recent announcement of 30 percent rebate on wheat and rice for the benefit of the consumers in the state.
In their resolutions, traders assured that they shall keep enough stock, so that there will not be any shortage of essential commodities at Khwairamband Bazar, the hub of business activities in the state.
They also announced that there will not be any hike in the price of essential commodities and have prepared the modalities to check any price hike except perishable items like potato, onion and others.
They also claim to have prepared a mechanism to check the middlemen taking advantage of the crisis by way of making daily announcement on the All India Radio (AIR) of the daily price prevailing at Khwairamband Bazar.
