Imphal, July 11:
The Committee for Restoration of Normalcy, CRN, has decided upon formation of local area peace committees for ensuring a swift return to normalcy in various areas of the state.
The committee, which met today at the state guest house with RK Theko in the chair, decided that such committees should be formed in the Imphal and greater Imphal areas, particularly in the mixed-population wards no.21 to 26 of Imphal municipal council, incorporating the IMC chairperson, municipal councillors or gram panchayat members.
It was also agreed that members of local clubs should be included in the local area peace committees.
The committee also decided to urge the state government to ensure that essential commodities reach the public by organizing mobile sale of such commodities through the FCS.
The committee further agreed to make an appeal to all shop owners not to take advantage of the situation to inflate the prices of their commodities, and to put up price lists at an easily visible spot.
It also proposed to the government that action should be taken against those who do not comply with this requirement.
The committee further decided to propose to the government to ensure that adequate quantities of essential commodities are stocked at all district headquarters.
It also urged for resumption of bus services to Tamenglong district.
It also decided that a loudspeaker campaign for preservation of communal harmony and against rumors should be mounted.
The CRN further recommended that the ban on local cable TV operators ICTV and SEEN TV should be removed and they should be allowed to function under strict guidelines.
